Are we the only Indonesian startup inside? We emailed a press release about this news to Indonesian tech media. It seems nobody read the email. So here is the same news, the Lunafic way, shorter, and with a question where the claim used to be. The news, Lunafic joined [AltaLab](https://altalab.ai) Fall 2026, the accelerator program powered by AltaIR Capital, the early investor behind Miro and Deel. In the same week we also joined NVIDIA Inception, the program that supports AI startups with technology and connections. ## Are we the only one from Indonesia here? The press release said Lunafic is the first Indonesian startup publicly announced to join AltaLab. We find the question version more fun, are we actually the only Indonesian startup inside the program? We honestly do not know, we can only see the companies that announce themselves. So if you are the other Indonesian team in there, or you know one, say hi to us. We hope we are not the only one, and we really hope we are not the last. ## The investor who was early on Miro and Deel For readers who never heard of AltaIR Capital, they are an international early-stage venture firm, they manage more than 600 million dollars, they have invested in more than 400 startups, and this year TIME put them on the America's Top Venture Capital Firms 2026 list. The names people usually recognize from their early days are Miro and Deel. AltaLab is their accelerator program for early-stage AI founders. ## What Lunafic is, if this news brought you here Lunafic is self-insert roleplay with long memories. You play as your own character inside a story world, and the AI plays everyone else, each character in their own voice, with memory that still knows what happened chapters ago. When we explain it to people outside the roleplay world, we say we are solving the AI hallucination problem for roleplay. Imagine you are an emperor and you enforce a law in chapter 4, then in chapter 20 the AI forgets about that. It invents things that never happened. And it writes your character for you, which roleplayers hate the most. These are old problems, there are Reddit communities with more than a million members just complaining about them. Lunafic exists because our founder roleplayed with AI every day for more than a year, built his own manual workflow to keep long stories consistent, then turned that workflow into the product. ## Mostly American users, two people in Tangerang The part that would surprise Indonesian readers, most of our users are American. The current version launched on August 29, 2026 with zero advertising, it found paying users on the first day, and around 60 percent of our traffic now comes from the United States. People searched ChatGPT for a roleplay app with longer memory, and found us. One early paying user wrote, "I found out about lunafic using chat gpt looking for a roleplay app that has a longer more continuous memory than others." Inside the program we plan to grow the early paying users, expand the public catalog of story worlds, and keep improving the memory system that holds long stories together. We build for the English-speaking world first, Japan, Korea, and Southeast Asia are next. And to be honest about where we are, Lunafic is still a new product with less characters than you probably wanted, and the memory system still needs more stress test from longer stories. The whole company is two people, and the rest of the work runs on AI.
