# Choose who you are before the story opens

> The first minute inside a Playable World, from picking a role to sending your first move.

When you press Play on a Playable World, the story does not open on a blank page. It first asks who you are, because the world needs to know before it can answer you.

This screen has no close button on purpose. The story cannot start until your hero is set.

## Step 1, the world introduces itself

You see the cover, the title and the first line of the world. Press Begin to continue.

## Step 2, who are you in this story

The author made roles for you, like a captain or a transfer student. Each role is a card with art and a short line. Pick one and press Continue.

- A role is a fixed position. **The author writes the role, and the endings of the world are tied to it. You still choose your own name and write how your character speaks.**
- Play as yourself. **A quiet option at the end of the list. You play as you, with no hero.**
- Write my own hero. **Appears when the author did not make any roles.**

> Playing as yourself or with your own hero is free play. The AI still writes the story, but this path does not reach the endings, because endings are written for the author's roles. The screen warns you before you choose it.

## Step 3, your hero sheet

The sheet is where you shape your hero. It has a portrait you can upload, a name, traits you add one by one, and a line for where you come from. A card on the side shows your hero as you type.

If you do not want to fill it yourself, the Let the AI interview me button opens a short chat where the AI asks and fills the sheet from your answers. When you are ready, press the Enter the story button.

## Step 4, your first move

The story opens with Your first move. These cards are the starting choices the author wrote. Tap one and it lands in your reply line, ready to send. You can edit it first, and you can also ignore the cards and write your own move.

Some starting choices come with an opening image. When you pick one of those, the first reply starts with that image.
