# Move your chats to Lunafic — Lunafic Docs

> Import chat history into Lunafic and continue your story.

If you have long conversations in another app, you do not have to start over. Lunafic turns your chat log into a story and gives the AI that history as memory, so the story continues from where it stopped.

## What you can import

- **Paste. **Copy your chat from the other app and paste it. Logs with You and character name lines work best.
- **File. **Upload a SillyTavern chat export, a .jsonl file.

## How it works

The import reads your log and asks Who is who, so each line goes to the right speaker. Then you pick where it goes, either a world or one of your own stories. From the first new message, the AI writes with that history behind it.

## Long histories

Very long imports are folded into recaps automatically, the same way long stories are. Your story keeps the full text.
