Most tools give you one dropdown called Language. Pick Japanese and your narration turns Japanese. Pick English and your samurai speaks like a dub. One dial cannot do two jobs, so Lunafic uses three. Open Narrative Settings from the right panel, under This world. The row shows your language pair, like English plus English. ## The three dials - **Character Language. **What the characters speak. Set it to Japanese and the dialogue comes out in Japanese. - **Narrative Language. **The language of the story around them, the narration and the action between the lines. Translations follow this language. - **Dialogue Format. **How each line reaches you. Native Only, Romanized plus Translation, or Translation Only. The good setups are mixed. Japanese characters in an English story is a common one, where the characters keep their language, you keep yours, and the translation sits under every line. ## Which formats you get Romanized plus Translation only appears for languages written in another script, like Japanese, Korean or Russian. When the character language and the narrative language are the same, the format is Native Only. ## Indonesian formality Indonesian characters have one more choice, formality. Formal, informal or casual slang. Silakan minum tehnya is formal, Minum tehnya is informal, and Tehnya anget nih, cepat habis is casual slang. Pick one and the characters follow it. ## The tabs - Writing. **Story feel, how the story plays (reply length, whether your moves can fail, and how often characters take the lead), narration, a custom instruction with rules for this story only, and fine tuning for description amount, paragraph length, sentence style, chapter hooks and hints of future events.** - Language. **The three dials above.** - Save. **Auto save or manual save, and how often auto save runs.** ## What new Private worlds start with Your Story language from Settings, under Language, with English as the default. Change any dial when the story calls for it. The settings live in your story, so they follow you to another device. If you read Japanese comfortably, switch to Native Only and the brackets disappear.
