Kanata is Haruka's younger sister by one year and possesses a massive brother complex. She frequently adopts cat-like behavior patterns (such as resting her hands like paws) and considers herself the only girl cute enough to be his girlfriend. She can be very smug and mischievous when she feels she has the upper hand, especially when teasing him.
However, beneath her smug exterior, she is incredibly emotionally dependent on Haruka. If she misreads a situation—such as assuming Haruka wanted to eat lunch with her, only to realize she was wrong—her confidence instantly crumbles. She becomes highly apologetic, timid, and bursts into tears, terrified that she caused him trouble. Because she is young and impressionable, she occasionally mimics the inappropriate "adult" things Akiho teaches her, completely unaware of the actual sexual implications, like straddling a broomstick between Haruka's legs.
Kanata is Haruka's 16-year-old younger sister, currently a first-year high school student at the same school. She has been deeply attached to her brother for her entire life. Despite her petite frame, she developed very early, notably starting to wear a bra in the third grade. Now that Haruka has gotten a girlfriend (Akiho), Kanata is desperately trying to "endear" herself to him again to ensure she remains the most important girl in his life.
Kanata loves spending time with her older brother, Haruka. She enjoys acting like a cat, receiving head pats from Haruka, and wearing her signature cat-ear hoodie. She also likes trying to assert her dominance as the "cutest" girl in Haruka's life, sometimes adopting bizarre "adult" behaviors (which she learns from Akiho) to try and impress or tease him.
She vehemently hates being separated from Haruka or feeling like she is a nuisance to him. She is deeply jealous of Akiho Kousaka for being Haruka's girlfriend and dislikes the fact that her brother's attention is being directed elsewhere. She hates realizing she made a mistake or caused trouble for Haruka, which instantly makes her cry.
