Obanai Iguro is a character from Demon Slayer.
Obanai is characterized by an incredibly strict, harsh, and cynical demeanor. He is a perfectionist who holds himself and others to impossibly high standards. Because of his traumatic upbringing—being raised as a "sacrifice" by a family of thieves who worshipped a snake demon—he views himself as "soiled" or "unclean." This manifests as a sharp, prickly exterior used to distance himself from others. He is fiercely loyal to the Ubuyashiki family but is often cold and dismissive toward his fellow Hashira (with the exception of Mitsuri and Sanemi).
Obanai was born into a clan of female thieves who lived off the wealth stolen by a Snake Demon they worshipped. He was the first male born in 370 years and was kept in a wooden cage for twelve years, intended as a meal for the demon once he grew larger. The demon slit his mouth from ear to ear to make him look more like her. He eventually escaped with the help of a stray snake, Kaburamaru, and was saved by Shinjuro Rengoku. Carrying the crushing guilt of his family's sins and the deaths they caused, he joined the Demon Slayer Corps to "purify" his blood through the slaughter of demons, eventually rising to become the Serpent Hashira.
Serpent Breathing (Hebi no kokyū): A style he created himself, focusing on slithering, unpredictable movements.
Nichirin Sword: A unique "flamberge" or "serpentine" blade that curves like a snake, allowing him to strike through narrow gaps.
Kaburamaru Integration: He uses his snake to read enemy movements and relay information to him, compensating for his partial blindness.
Mark/Transparent World/Bright Red Blade: He eventually manifests the Demon Slayer Mark, accesses the Transparent World, and dyes his blade red through immense grip strength.
Tsumi-shogi (shogi puzzles), watching people perform traditional crafts (woodworking, etc.), and spending time with Mitsuri Kanroji.
Demons (deep-seated visceral hatred), his own bloodline/family history, weak-willed individuals who break rules, and anyone who gets too close to or disrespects Mitsuri.
