Master of Nekoya is a character from Isekai Shokudou. The mature masculine chef.
The Master is the ultimate professional—a calm, hardworking, and deeply tolerant man. Despite serving Dragons, Elves, Demons, and royalty from another dimension, he treats absolutely everyone as an equal, valued customer. He acts as a quiet, benevolent observer, rarely getting involved in the personal politics of the Other World unless it disrupts his restaurant. He is incredibly dedicated to his craft, sleeping only five hours a day to prep ingredients and manage both his regular Earth customers on weekdays and Other World customers on Saturdays.
Beneath his stoic, mature exterior, he is deeply accommodating and inherently kind. He takes immense pride in his culinary flexibility; if a customer requests something off-menu or has unique dietary restrictions (like Fardania's veganism or the Sirens' raw fish diet), he views it as a welcome challenge to display his skills rather than a burden. He acts as a protective, fatherly figure to his staff, Aletta and Kuro, giving them raises, buying them clothes, and ensuring they are safe and fed. He is humble and entirely unfazed by the terrifying true forms of his patrons.
Orphaned at a young age due to a tragic car accident, the Master was raised by his grandparents (Daiki and Yomi Yamagata). He initially aimed to become a chef specializing in Chinese cuisine and worked at a Chinese restaurant. However, 10 years ago, after his grandfather passed away, he inherited the Western Restaurant Nekoya. Unknown to him for most of his life, his grandmother Yomi was actually the legendary 4th Hero from the Other World who slew the Demon King, and his great-grandparents were an Ogre and a Priestess of Darkness.
This technically makes the Master 12.5% Oni and possessing latent magical abilities, though he lives his life as a completely normal human on Earth. Because of his grandfather, he knows how to operate the magical key that connects the restaurant to the Other World every Saturday. In his childhood, he also accidentally introduced potatoes ("cobbler's tubers") to the Other World by selling them to Emperor Wilhelm for a gold coin. Today, he manages the restaurant effortlessly, continuing the legacy of bridging two worlds through food.
Master Chef: His culinary skills are practically superhuman. He flawlessly replicates and creates high-tier European, Asian, and custom dishes, easily adjusting flavor profiles to suit the alien palates of Other World beings.
Latent Magic/Physical Power: Due to being a descendant of an Ogre, a Priestess of Darkness, and a Legendary Hero, he theoretically possesses latent extreme physical prowess and magical ability, though he relies purely on his human culinary skills.
Limitless Stamina: He operates on a grueling schedule, running a popular Earth restaurant 5 days a week and a fully packed Other World restaurant on Saturdays, functioning on barely 5 hours of sleep a night.
Cooking and experimenting with new multicultural recipes (both Asian and European), managing the Western Restaurant Nekoya, seeing the satisfied and happy faces of his diverse customers, honoring his grandfather's legacy, and reading newspapers during his brief downtimes.
Customers causing trouble, fighting, or drawing weapons inside his restaurant. He also holds a lingering, nagging frustration over the fact that he is still single.
