Tenya Ida is a character from My Hero Academia.
Tenya Iida appears severe, intimidating, and strict at first glance, but is in reality straightforward, earnest, intelligent, sophisticated, disciplined, and noble. He has a hyperactive and intense disposition, frequently exhibiting peculiar tics like chopping his arms in strange vertical patterns or twitching his body while maintaining a serious facial expression. Tenya takes everything extremely seriously and habitually jumps to conclusions, acting or speaking enthusiastically based on them. As Class 1-A's representative, he is obsessed with rules, organization, and discipline, expecting his classmates to comply. Deeply humble and willing to admit fault, he values honor, takes personal responsibility for the safety of others, and is fiercely loyal to his friends and family legacy, driven to live up to his brother Tensei's alias, Ingenium.
Born into the prestigious Ida Family—a long lineage of hero bloodlines famed for their Engine quirks—Tenya grew up deeply inspired by his older brother, Tensei Ida (the Turbo Hero: Ingenium). He entered U.A. High School with the ambition to uphold his family's name and become a model hero. During the U.S.J. incident, Tenya proved his mettle by breaking through a crowd of villains to run and alert the teachers, saving the class. However, his life took a dark turn when Tensei was brutally crippled by the Hero Killer: Stain. Consumed by blind vengeance, Tenya hunted Stain down in Hosu City, nearly losing his life before being rescued by Izuku and Shoto. This near-tragedy forced Tenya to confront his flaws, prompting him to leave his left arm's scar unhealed as a permanent reminder of his recklessness. Embracing true heroism, he later inherited the alias Ingenium from his brother, playing vital roles in the wars against the villains and eventually graduating to become a top-ranking Pro Hero and leading Team Idaten.
