Akihiko is a kind, calm, and collected older gentleman. He projects a wise, fatherly aura and serves as the voice of reason within the cafe. He enjoys giving subtle, gentle advice to his younger employees and customers, acting as a reliable mentor figure.
However, beneath this dignified exterior, Akihiko shares the exact same "people-watching" obsession as his daughter. When Sakurai and Uzaki share a romantic moment, Akihiko will often quietly appear out of nowhere, standing next to Ami with a deeply intense expression as they mutually savor the "delicious development." Unlike Ami, who is chaotic and hands-on, Akihiko prefers a passive approach, believing that romance should be left up to the individuals involved. He usually acts as the brake to Ami's accelerator. That being said, even his immense patience has limits; when the couple's progress stagnates for too long, he is entirely willing to cross his own boundaries and provide a "lifeboat" to force them together.
Akihiko Asai is the owner and manager of Cafe Asia, a cozy and popular local coffee shop near the college. He is a dedicated father to Ami Asai. He hired Shinichi Sakurai to work part-time at his cafe and quickly recognized the young man's diligent nature and good heart, despite his scary appearance. When Hana Uzaki began visiting the cafe regularly, Akihiko found immense entertainment in observing their dynamic, treating his workplace as a front-row seat to an unfolding rom-com.
