Lunafic is visual AI roleplay. You play your own character inside a story world, the AI plays everyone else, the story remembers every chapter, and the world shows its own pictures when the big moments come. V4 exists because many new players opened a world, typed "Hi" to test it, and did not know what to do next. So V4 makes roleplay easier to start and easier to understand, and it keeps the long memory and the story you come back to. A private world is yours alone. In both, you can edit any line of your own story like a book. #### You know what to do after Play Choose your hero, a role the author made or your own character, then pick how the story opens from its starting choices. Some worlds have endings to reach, worlds without roles are free play. #### Pictures inside the story The person who builds a world adds pictures for its big moments. While you play, the AI shows the right picture when that moment happens. The author prepares these pictures, they are not generated while you play. #### Your character stays yours MC Mode is the default. The AI never writes your character's dialogue, thoughts, or actions. In scene decides who is inside the current scene, so nobody walks in until you call them. #### A story that remembers Every reply reads your newest scenes word for word, a recap of every chapter, every promise and rule word for word, the world's wiki, and your notes. On paid plans, the Memory dialog shows what the AI remembers and lets you fix it. #### Read it the way you like Tap Aa and pick Lunafic, Visual novel, Chat, or Light novel. The same story in four looks, with paper colors to match. #### Settings like a game menu Narrative settings has a Writing tab. Pick the story feel, the reply length, whether your moves can fail, and how often the characters take the lead. #### Drawn for the phone first Every screen was drawn for the phone first, then brought to desktop, so there are fewer things on the screen at once. #### Ask Claude or ChatGPT about your stories Connect Lunafic to Claude or ChatGPT once, then ask about your worlds and stories in plain words. It can read your stories, it never changes them. #### Private by default Zero stories are used for AI training, and nobody at Lunafic reads your story. Nothing goes public unless you publish it. The launch post tells the story behind the release. 8 October 2026 #### V4 launch day V4 went live around midnight, and we kept shipping through the day. Everything below is live. In this update ##### The release - V4 released, with Playable Worlds, starting choices, pictures in the story, and every screen redrawn for the phone. - New login and sign-up pages, where Rona from Shade of Death can't be this cute reacts while you type. ##### Memory - Promises, laws, and contracts from every chapter now reach the AI word for word. Before, most of them only survived inside a chapter recap. - The oldest chapters of very long stories no longer drop out of memory. Before, one story carried only 12 of its 19 chapters. - When you mention something from an earlier chapter, the AI now looks into every earlier chapter, and Japanese and Korean messages start this look-back too. - The look-back also searches by meaning now, so it finds the right chapter even when you say it in different words. - If you go back and add to or rewrite a finished chapter, its memory catches up by itself once you move on and keep playing. Small edits wait until they add up. - The Memory dialog is new. Press Memory above the reply line or type /memory to see what your last reply used, edit or update the memory of any chapter, or fix or remove a promise. It is open on paid plans. - Paid plans were stuck at 10 story notes per story by mistake. They now get 30, Free keeps 10. ##### Moving around long chapters - A chapter opens at your latest message, so you continue where you stopped. - Message dots on the right side of the story, one for each message you sent, up to seven at a time. Tap a dot to jump there, or hold and slide to read the message first. ##### Claude and ChatGPT - Connect Lunafic to Claude or ChatGPT once, in Settings under Agent access, then ask about your worlds and stories in plain words, like "Summarize what happened in my last chapter". - It can read and search your stories, it never changes them. It can edit your own worlds and their wiki, and every wiki change can be undone. - ChatGPT needs one of its paid plans for this, and it works on the ChatGPT website, not in its phone app. ##### How the AI plays - Character sheets and the rest of a world's wiki reached the AI as raw code text in almost every story. The AI now reads them as plain text. - The AI uses the real names from the wiki, instead of placeholders like "the user character". - In MC Mode the AI now treats the story as yours. It describes what your character sees and hears, and never writes their thoughts. - A character called only by a title, like "the ancient Shade of Death", is now recognized, so the AI gets her character sheet. - The AI is now asked to let characters act on what they want and to keep hard characters hard. In our tests, one sentence pattern the AI overused dropped from 2 in 3 replies to fewer than 1 in 10. - Narrative settings got a Writing tab that works like the options screen of a game, and Long, Very long, and Epic replies now really write longer. ##### Worlds and pictures - You can edit any line of your story in every world, also in Playable Worlds. - Locked endings now show their hint, so you know what to aim for without spoiling the ending. You see them on the world page and in your story's endings list. - A world's page shows two of its scene pictures and keeps the rest locked. - The Scenes panel in your story shows six pictures and a See all button, and a world can now hold up to 100 pictures. - Scene pictures and scene breaks no longer get erased by the next paragraph. ##### Your account - A new public profile. Its cover is the art of a published world you pick, with your bio, the worlds you made, and the worlds you played if you turn that on. Edit it in Settings, under Profile. - Invite friends from the sidebar. When a friend joins and plays their first scene, you both get extra AI usage for that month. The invite sheet shows how much, as a percent of your own monthly AI usage. - App pages now follow the language you picked. - On the phone, the story sheet on the left is slimmer and the extra menu in the header is gone. ##### For people who build worlds - The Library shows when the publish check is running, needs a fix, or took a world down. - The release steps warn when a first move names no character. - Pick your world's link in the release steps. V3 brought Lunafic back to playing inside stories, on top of the writing engine built for professional writers. V4 keeps that engine and redraws every screen for the phone first. It adds Playable Worlds you play like co-op in a game, a hero and starting choices when you press play, pictures that appear in the story at the right moment, four reading looks, and a Memory dialog that shows and fixes what the AI remembers. ### Is Lunafic V4 free? Yes, Lunafic V4 is free to start and needs no credit card. MC Mode, the long story memory, Playable Worlds, and pictures in the story work on every plan. The plans differ by how much AI usage you get each month and a few Free limits, like the number of story notes, and on Free the Memory dialog, search, and Find and Replace are locked.
