Imagine

You're in the middle of a scene, in the world of your waifu.

Kirino, Ruri, and you, in the same place.

You write a line as your character. Then you direct the scene.

You write

"Is that Kirino?"

Kirino demands to know why Ruri is here. Ruri answers in her own language. You try to explain. It gets worse.

Ruri heard the footsteps before the door opened. Heels. Fast. Kirino.

Kirino
Kirino

"Nande kono ko ga iru no?"

Why is SHE here?

Kirino stepped inside. Her heel caught the edge of the rug. She kicked it flat.

Kirino
Kirino

"Kuso. Ren, anta ga yonda no?"

Crap. You called her?

You avoided it. You weren't the one who called Ruri.

Kirino
Kirino

"Anta, atashi to kono hen na yatsu o onaji hi ni yobu nante. Saitei."

You invite me and this weirdo on the same day. The worst.

show, not tell. no "she was hurt"

The word landed. Ruri's fingers tightened on the teacup. Just slightly. Just enough.

Ruri
Ruri

"Yoku iu wa... eroge-zuki no anata ni."

Bold words... from someone who plays eroge.

action beat grounds the line

She set the teacup down. The porcelain met the table without a sound.

Ruri
Ruri

"Dorobouneko."

Thieving cat.

Kirino
Kirino

"Nani!? Dare ga!?"

What!? Who is!?

Kirino's hand closed around your sleeve. Ruri's hands stayed on the table, perfectly still. You looked at one, then the other.

It knows them because it reads your notes. Every character detail, every relationship, every rule you wrote.

You directed the scene. It wrote the words.

Why the voices hold

The AI reads this before every reply

Maomao

Maomao

Every character here carries a world bible: how they speak, how they act, what they know and what they keep hidden. The AI reads it before every reply, which is why a voice holds for forty chapters instead of flattening by scene three.

Speech Style

Guarded Reference

Deadpan, formal, detached. Then the subject turns to poison and the voice goes breathy and dreamy. Someone about to drink something fatal? Every formality drops and she barks orders.

How the AI makes her sound.

Personality

Read-only

Raised in the red-light district. She counts relationships as transactions, avoids palace politics, and is entirely immune to Jinshi’s charm. Underneath: a sense of justice she cannot switch off.

How the AI makes her act.

Speech Examples

Guarded Reference

"Fugu no doku... ano piripiri shita shibire ga ii n da. Aa, tabetai..." · "Keishou wa irimasen." · "Shao... tte, ikinari chan-zuke desu ka."

The actual lines the AI builds from.

Guarded panels shape the character’s voice in your story without showing the author’s raw text. The craft stays with the person who built it.

Core Feature

You direct. The AI writes in character.

The AI writes the words, stays in character, and uses only what your character would know.

If your character only knows someone as "the quiet one," that's all the AI sees too.

  • ✓Streaming ghost text. Watch prose appear word by word
  • ✓Pacing warnings when the tempo breaks
  • ✓Knowledge leak detection
Two ways to write

Step into the role. You write your character's lines and actions directly. The AI plays everyone else. It never writes your character.

MC Mode
You write as Emperor

Pairin, Meimei, Joka line up. You look at the three. You point to Joka. "Honestly her face is my type, but she seems like she'll kill me if I pick her." Then you turn to Pairin. "Tell me about yourself. What do you like? What do you do outside work? What do you wish?"

The AI responds

Before Joka could formulate a response, the ever-eager Pairin stepped forward.

Pairin
Pairin

"Fufu! Heika, watashi wa Pairin to moushimasu wa!"

Fufu! Your Majesty, my name is Pairin!

Pairin leaned in slightly, a breathy, seductive lilt in her voice.

The AI never writes your character. It stops when you must act.

Core Feature

Capture the true
Japanese
nuance

Our battle-tested characters are ready to import, but what truly brings them to life is the nuance. Otaku culture thrives on Japanese voice acting, yet reading Kanji is hard, and English localization often loses the original soul.

So we reinvented the format for you: Romanized Japanese + English Translation. You can finally hear their exact cadence in your head without needing to be fluent.

  • ✓Hear the exact voice acting cadence in your mind
  • ✓No more awkward or stripped-down English localization
  • ✓Perfect for Anime, Manga, and Light Novel fanfiction
Dialogue Format: Romanized + Translation
You write as Souma

"Wait, why are you here?" Souma asks Roroa.

Roroa responds
Roroa Amidonia
Roroa Amidonia

"Souma-han toko ni totsugi ni kitan ya."

I've come to marry into your family, Souma-han.

She speaks in a heavy Kansai dialect, her sharp merchant mind hidden behind a boisterous, playful smile.

You spoke in English. Roroa answers in her own voice, with her own cadence. The AI stays in character.

Straight answers

What is Lunafic?

Lunafic is AI roleplay that writes a real story. You pick a world, step into a character, and write. The AI plays everyone else in their own voice and language, knowing only what your character would know, and every scene becomes a chapter you can edit, branch, and export as a novel or fanfiction. It is free to start and private by default.

Can I write fan fiction with my favorite characters?

Yes. The library carries published worlds built on the franchises people love, each with a cast that stays in character because the AI reads their profiles before every reply. Press Write and the world becomes your own private story: nobody sees it unless you publish. Worlds set their own maturity rating, and your writing is never used to train AI.

Is my story private?

Private is the default. Zero stories are used for AI training, nobody at Lunafic reads what you write, and nothing becomes public unless you publish it yourself. You get the full studio without ever publishing a single chapter, and any night you want, you can export everything as a novel or fanfiction and take it with you.

Is it free to start?

Yes, with no credit card. The free tier includes the full studio, every writing format, and a fresh allowance of AI credits every month, which covers dozens of scenes. Paid plans exist for writers who finish what they start and want more AI, deeper models, and higher limits. Start free, and upgrade only when the story asks for it.

How is it different from Character.ai?

Character.ai is a chat app: one character, one scrolling session, no editor. Lunafic starts one level up, inside a world with a cast, rules, and an opening scene. Every scene lands in a real editor as chapters you can edit, branch, search, and export. Characters speak their own language with translation under each line, and a world bible keeps them consistent.

Does the AI write inside my document?

Yes, it drafts straight into the editor. You type a direction for the next beat and the scene appears in your document as faded text. Accept keeps it, discard clears it. While you type, @ pulls your characters, # pulls your places, and ! pulls your lore from your own world notes, and the editor underlines point-of-view slips and tense breaks as they happen.

Step into a world that writes back.

Pick a world, play your character, and let the AI bring everyone else to life. Your roleplay becomes a story you can come back to.
