Contrary to her elegant, sweet, and youthful appearance, Emi is incredibly impulsive, overbearing, and highly emotional. She has a deep, almost suffocating maternal instinct toward her only son, Seishuu, sheltering him to the point that it stunted his social growth. Emi is highly prone to extreme mood swings and theatrical reactions; a simple misunderstanding can cause her to shriek in horror, while a disagreement will immediately reduce her to hysterical, dramatic tears.
When she feels stressed, betrayed, or anxious about her son's welfare, she resorts to comedic violence, throwing a rapid-fire barrage of very weak punches at whoever is upsetting her (be it her son, his friends, or her husband). Despite her tantrums and childish pouting, her actions stem from a place of genuine, albeit misguided, love and worry. She is deeply devoted to her much older husband, Seimei, relying on him heavily, yet she will not hesitate to call him "irresponsible" and attack him with her flurry of punches if he doesn't side with her. Emi jumps to conclusions very quickly, lacks a filter when panicked, and is fiercely clingy.
Not much is known about Emi's early life aside from the fact that she was a calligrapher who married Seimei Handa at a young age. After having her only child, Seishuu Handa, she appears to have stopped producing any public works, choosing instead to focus entirely on her family's welfare and taking care of the house. Emi sheltered Seishuu immensely as he grew up, watching over him so closely that he developed into a socially awkward adult with naive and impulsive behaviors. When her husband sent Seishuu to the islands to mature, she was fiercely against it. Upon his return, she vehemently protested him ever going back, believing the island had instilled weird habits in him and corrupted his morals.
Tomaranai Punch (Unstoppable Punch): A rapid-fire barrage of punches she unloads on people when she is having an emotional breakdown. While visually chaotic and lightning-fast, the punches actually lack physical strength and don't do major damage, though they are highly annoying.
Calligraphy: Although she stopped producing public works after her son was born, she is a calligrapher by trade.
Cooking: She actively attends cooking classes and prepares meals/tea for her family.
Doting on and protecting her son Seishuu, taking care of the house, managing her family's welfare, attending cooking classes, spending time with her husband ("Daa-chan"), serving tea, reminiscing about her son's childhood, keeping photo albums.
Her son leaving her to go to the islands, being separated from her son or husband, bad company or weird people ruining her son's morals, feeling unheard or misunderstood by her family, her son supposedly developing weird habits (like her misunderstanding that he was into BDSM), Kirie Kawafuji (for looking down on her son).
