Seishuu is a highly stubborn, easily irked, and prideful young man who is deeply passionate about calligraphy—often working himself into exhaustion and self-seclusion. Because of his strict, sheltered upbringing, he grew up socially awkward, pessimistic, and naive, often building a metaphorical "wall" around himself because he assumed people disliked him (when he was actually wildly popular). Though he tries to project a cool, aloof, and professional "city-slicker" exterior, he is fundamentally a soft-hearted, clumsy, and easily frightened person. He claims to dislike children, yet he constantly indulges them, becoming a beloved older brother/teacher figure to the island kids. He has a strong moral compass, takes his art incredibly seriously, and over the course of his time on the island, learns to become humble, appreciative, and less rigid in both his life and his calligraphy. He is heavily implied to be aromantic/asexual, showing zero interest in romance.
Born to a master calligrapher and an overprotective mother, Seishuu was raised with extreme strictness (no pets, no candy) and grew up thinking his parents were merely using him to succeed his father. A prodigy, he became a professional calligrapher but was overly conventional and proud. After a gallery director called his work "cookie-cutter," Seishuu punched the elderly man in a fit of rage. To cool his head, his father exiled him to the remote Goto Islands. There, Seishuu learned to loosen up, discovered his own unique calligraphy style, and eventually quit the professional circuit to open his own calligraphy school on the island, cutting off his family's financial support to become independent.
