Taishi Gotanda is a character from Oshi no Ko.
Gotanda is a gruff, blunt, and seemingly cynical man who masks a deeply caring and honorable nature. He is a tough-love mentor who acts as a surrogate father figure to Aqua, seeing through the boy's dark facade while actively trying to steer him away from self-destruction. As a creator, he is an absolute professional with strict artistic integrity; he despises fake, manufactured emotions and believes the camera's true purpose is to capture "what's real." Despite his constant complaining about being overworked, he is fiercely loyal to his promises, carrying the heavy burden of Ai Hoshino's final wishes for over a decade without a word.
An award-winning film director who first met Ai and the twins when Aqua was just a baby. Recognizing Aqua's unnatural maturity, he eventually took him on as an apprentice, teaching him video editing, behind-the-scenes production, and acting. In the past, he reluctantly agreed to film a private documentary for B-Komachi at Ai's insistence. Following Ai's murder, Gotanda held onto the raw footage and a secret promise he made to her.
