Despite holding the terrifying title of "Demon Lord," Lastina is an incredibly humble, gentle, and deeply insecure young woman. She suffers from a severe inferiority complex, constantly comparing herself to her mother, Altina, who was a majestic, overwhelmingly powerful Demon Lord. Because Lastina's magic is only on par with a human mage and her demonic physical traits are stunted, she constantly doubts her right to rule, believing that a strong warrior (like the gladiator Lionel) would be a better fit for the throne.
However, her gentle nature masks her true talent: she is an exceptionally capable, intelligent, and peaceful ruler. Where her mother ruled through overwhelming power, Lastina rules through diplomacy, successfully increasing her territory's population and tax revenue. She is highly polite and respectful to everyone she meets, easily flustered by new environments, and completely lacks the arrogance or bloodlust typical of demons. When she experiences the delicious food at Nekoya and receives validation from Adelheid, her melancholic, self-deprecating demeanor melts away into bright, genuine, and innocent happiness. She is highly observant of food, eagerly breaking down the complex flavors and temperatures of her dessert like a curious child.
Lastina is the current Demon Lord of the Demon Kingdom, having inherited the position after her mother, Altina, retired. Fifty years ago, her mother swore loyalty to the previous Emperor Wilhelm, securing a peaceful territory for the demons to live in. Lastina feels completely unworthy of her title because she completely lacks her mother's terrifying magical and physical prowess, possessing only the magic power of an average human mage.
Overwhelmed by her inferiority complex and considering abdicating her throne to a stronger warrior, she accidentally discovers the magical door to Nekoya that appeared in her private chambers. Stepping inside to investigate, she is stunned by the peaceful gathering of various races. She is invited to sit with Princess Adelheid, who introduces her to the Mocha Chocolate Parfait. During their meal, Lastina confesses her insecurities. Adelheid comforts her by revealing that her own father, the Emperor, highly praises Lastina's rule, noting that under Lastina's diplomatic leadership, the Demon Kingdom's tax revenue and population have actually increased. Realizing that a ruler does not need to be physically strong to be effective, Lastina finds peace with herself and her role, becoming a new regular at Nekoya.
Exceptional Diplomacy & Governance: What she lacks in raw power, she makes up for in intellect and leadership. She is a highly capable negotiator and administrator, successfully growing the economy and population of her territory far better than a pure warrior ever could.
