Features

In this scene

A row above the reply line shows who is on stage. Only those characters speak or act, and the rest wait backstage.

The problem

With many characters in one world, the AI pulls in whoever it likes. A character who is in another city answers a question, or someone walks into a private conversation for no reason. The more characters a world has, the more often it happens.

In-Scene Control

Solving characters showing up out of nowhere

We created the "In scene" feature where you and the AI control who is inside the current roleplay. We solved the long-standing problem of multi-character roleplay writing you've been annoyed by for a long time.

Only characters currently on stage can speak or take action. No uninvited cast members suddenly barging into intimate or private conversations.

Active Stage Guard
The AI only writes dialogue and reactions for characters confirmed in the current room.

Instant Summon
Invite or dismiss characters with one click without resetting the chapter history.

Midnight in the North Stacks

27 scenes

Rain drummed on the tall windows of the North Stacks. Rona's pencil scratched across her ledger. By the stairwell door, Kael stood with his arms folded.

Rona"You came again? You'll collapse in two hours. It's written on your face."

Kael"I will watch the stairs. You two keep talking."

Who is in this scene?

Mavi is outside the room and will never interrupt until summoned.

How it works

  • Pick who is present

Open the row and tick the characters in the room. The change applies from your next reply.

  • The rest stay backstage

Characters outside the scene wait in the world's Wiki, its character sheets, and come back when you call them in.

  • Smaller scenes use less

The AI reads the full sheet of every character on stage, so a smaller scene also uses less of your monthly AI usage.

Questions people ask

How does Lunafic handle many characters in one roleplay?

Each story has an In this scene row above the reply line. It shows who is on stage right now. The AI reads the full character sheet of everyone on stage and plays them in their own speech styles, while everyone else stays backstage. Characters outside the scene do not speak or act, so nobody barges into a private moment. You open the row and pick who is present, and the change applies from your next reply.

Does a smaller scene use less AI usage?

Yes. On each reply the AI reads the full sheet of every character in the scene. With fewer characters on stage, each reply carries less, so it uses less of your monthly AI usage. AI usage is the monthly meter for AI work on Lunafic, shown as a percentage. Keeping only the characters who are really in the room helps both the story and the meter.

Is In this scene on the free plan?

Yes. In this scene works in every story on every plan, Free included. The row sits above the reply line, and you can change who is present at any point in a chapter. Taking a character off stage does not remove them from your world. They wait in the Wiki until you call them back into the scene.
