Playable Worlds

A world someone built for other people to play, with roles to pick, starting choices, and endings to reach.

The problem

Starting a roleplay from a blank chat is hard. Many new players opened a world, typed Hi to test it, and did not know what to do next. Chatting without a goal goes nowhere, while anime, light novels, manga, and games always give you a point to reach.

Two kinds of worlds

Is it a fiction editor or chat roleplay?

Both. You play it like a chat, and you can edit any line like a book, in every world.

Playable World

Someone built it, you play it

Talk with the characters like a chat. If a reply is wrong, retry it, remove it, or fix the line yourself.

EndminWelcome to Stockade

Spray from the falls drifted over the rocks. Bai Tang stood right at the edge, fists on his hips, tail swinging.

Bai Tang"Gaoo~! You're late, Darkmask! From today, you're the Third Seat of Qingbo Stockade!"

Bai Tang(...My ears aren't twitching, right? I'm not making a weird face, right?)

He held out a fist and waited, grinning, for yours.

How it works

  • Roles

An author designs fixed positions for players, like a captain or a transfer student. Each role has its own endings.

  • Starting choices

The story opens with cards of possible first moves. Tap one, edit it, or write your own. Some open with a picture.

  • Endings

A world can have up to seven endings tied to its roles. Locked endings show a hint without spoiling, and an ending you reach is saved on your account.

  • Private world

Your own world that only you can open. Change its characters and rules, play any character, or direct the scene in Author Mode.

Questions people ask

What is a Playable World?

A Playable World is a world an author built for other people to play, like co-op in a game. You can play in another player's world, but you cannot renovate their house. Press Play and Lunafic creates your own story inside it. You choose who you are, make your first move, and play, while the world's characters, rules, and Wiki stay with its author. You can still edit every line of your own story.

How do endings work in Lunafic?

An author can give a Playable World up to seven endings, each tied to a role. When you play that role and the story meets the ending's conditions, the AI writes the ending. Locked endings show a hint without spoiling what happens, and every ending you reach is saved on your account and never given twice. Playing as yourself or with your own hero is free play, which never reaches endings, and the screen says so before you choose.

What is the difference between a Playable World and a private world?

A Playable World is built by someone else, and you play it. A private world is your own room. Only you can open it, and you can change anything in it, its characters, its rules, and its settings. In a private world you can also play as any character, switch to Author Mode, and export chapters. A private world can later be promoted to a Playable World without losing anything.
