Character Status

Give characters the stats your story needs, like health, a level or hostility. The AI changes one only when the story shows it happen, and you can change any of them yourself.

The problem

Before Status, keeping RPG-like numbers in Lunafic, like health in a long fight or a level in an isekai, meant editing the wiki yourself after every scene, and in someone else's world you could not edit it at all. So most of the time the numbers were simply forgotten.

Status in a real story

In this world Rosalind sees a hostility number above people. One reply lowered Tobias's number by one, then she asked to see Cassian's, and the story showed his status board.

Rosalind ValcourtRosalind ValcourtI lift my eyes to Cassian and make myself look at the number floating above his head. I want to know exactly how much he hates me right now.

How it works

  • Values you pick

A world's author picks up to 6 values the story needs, a number like health or a level, a choice like fine, hurt or badly hurt, or a few words like a rank. Every character has them unless you leave someone out.

  • Changes the story shows

Each value has a line that says when it changes. The AI changes a value only when a reply shows that happen, and a small line shows right where it changed. Most replies change nothing.

  • A status window in the story

Ask to see your status or someone else's, and a status window shows up inside the story, as a game status board or a character card. It also shows when a fight ends or someone levels up.

  • Easy to change

Every story keeps its own numbers. Tap a character to change any value or undo a change, and bring values over from another of your stories in the same world.

Questions people ask

What is Character Status in Lunafic?

Character Status is a Beta feature that gives the characters of a world story stats that change while you play, like health, a level, or how hostile someone is toward your character. The world's author sets up the values and writes when each one changes. Then the AI changes a value only when a reply shows that moment happen, and the app shows the change right there in the story, like a status screen in a game. Every story keeps its own numbers and you can change any of them yourself, so two players of the same world can end up in very different stories.

How do I see my stats or a character's status?

Ask in the story, for example by checking your status or looking closely at someone, and a status window shows up right inside the story, drawn by the app from the saved values. You can also open In this scene above the reply box and tap a character, or open the character's wiki page, to see every value and change one yourself. A status window also shows up when a fight ends or someone levels up.

How do I set up Status for my world?

In a Playable World, open the release steps and pick Status. In your own private world, open the right panel in your story and tap Status, or use the Status tool in your world's wiki. Start from a set like Status board, Condition, Case file or Relationship, or add your own values, then write when each one changes. Every character gets the values unless you leave them out, and you can give one character a different start for every new story.
