Writing engine
You write your character's line. The AI answers as everyone else, each in their own speech style and language, and the story reads like a book.
The problem
Most AI roleplay rushes ahead. You write one line, and the reply already decides how the night ends, what everyone feels, and what happens next week. Lunafic started as a writing tool for authors, so its writing engine was built to stay in the moment and leave the next move to you.
Narration
Solving narration that jumps ahead of your story
Most AI roleplay has the same habit. Instead of staying in the moment with your character, the narration jumps into the future and tells you a detail will matter later.
Lunafic started as a writing tool for authors, so the narration stays where your character is. It shows what is happening right now and lets you decide what it means.
Typical AI roleplay
The summit hall, which had begun with toxic hostility and suffocating political pressure, had suddenly transformed. The sheer, overwhelming goodwill of the Tenka Emperor had washed over the room, leaving the greatest leaders of the era utterly disarmed and in awe. It was a moment none of them would ever forget.
The last line jumps to a future you have not played yet.

The tea in her cup has gone cold hours ago. She drinks it anyway, without breaking eye contact.

How it works
You play your character
MC Mode is the default. The AI never writes your character's dialogue, thoughts, or actions, and it stops when it is your turn.
Everyone else in their own voice
Each character talks the way their Wiki sheet says, in their own speech style and language. Characters who are not in the scene stay quiet until you bring them in.
It remembers the story
Every reply reads your newest scenes, a short memory of each earlier chapter, and the world's Wiki, so chapter 40 still knows chapter 4.
Pick the model
Free writes with the Flash model. Paid plans add the Standard and Pro models for richer replies, and you can switch between them any time.
Questions people ask
Does the AI write my character for me?
No. MC Mode is the default for every new story. You play your character, and the AI plays the world and everyone else in it. It never writes your character's dialogue, thoughts, or actions. It writes what the other characters say and do and what your character can see and hear, then it stops at the moment your character has to act, speak, or decide. In your own private world you can switch to Author Mode when you want the AI to write the whole scene.
Why does Lunafic narration not jump ahead?
Lunafic started as a writing tool for authors, and authors hate a narrator who finishes the scene for them. The writing engine keeps each reply in the moment you are playing. It writes what happens now, how the other characters react, and what your character notices, then hands the scene back to you. It does not summarize the rest of the night or decide how everyone feels next week, so the story moves at the pace you set.
Does the AI end the scene for me?
No. Each reply picks up from your last line instead of starting the scene over, and it stops where your character has to act, speak, or decide. It does not wrap up the night or decide how an argument ends while you are still in it. When you want a time skip or a new place, you write it in your own turn, or in your own private world you switch to Author Mode and direct it.
Can I change what the AI wrote?
Yes. In every world you can retry a reply to get a new one, remove it, or click into the story and edit any line yourself, yours or the characters'. Fixing a line by hand uses no AI usage. This works in your own private world and in a Playable World someone else built, because the story you play is yours. The world itself and its Wiki stay with the person who built it.
Is the writing engine free to use?
Yes, with no credit card required, and stories are unlimited on every plan. Free comes with a monthly amount of AI usage on the Flash model. Paid plans add more AI usage every month and the Standard and Pro models, which write richer replies for long stories. The writing engine, MC Mode, and story memory work the same way on every plan, so you can start free tonight and upgrade only when your story asks for it.
