Reading looks
Each line of dialogue sits beside the speaking character's portrait and name. Tap Aa to read the same story in four looks.
The problem
In chat apps a scene with many characters reads as one name and one line after another, over and over, and it gets hard to follow who is speaking. We designed from the output first, a story that is easy to read and easy to edit.
Reading looks in a real story
Tap a look. The same lines change how they read.
Rain drummed on the tall windows of the North Stacks. Rona's pencil scratched across her ledger. By the stairwell door, Kael stood with his arms folded.
Rona"You came again? You'll collapse in two hours. It's written on your face."
Kael"I will watch the stairs. You two keep talking."
Bang! The stairwell door flew open, and Mavi strode in, ponytail swinging, still in her riding boots.
Mavi"Found you! Rona, benched in the dark again! Come on, let's go, midnight snack time!"
How it works
Avatar dialogue
Each spoken line sits beside the character's portrait and name, so you always know who is talking.
Four looks
Lunafic, Visual novel, Chat, and Light novel, each with its own paper color. Mix your own if none fits.
Sound effects
Sounds like a knock or a heartbeat show in a handwritten style, like sound words in a comic. You can write them too, as {s:slurp}.
Questions people ask
Can I read my AI roleplay like a visual novel?
Yes. Tap Aa at the top of your story and pick Visual novel. Each line sits in a raised box with the speaking character's face and a name tag, like a visual novel. The other looks are Lunafic, Chat with message bubbles, and Light novel with indented paragraphs. A look only changes how the story reads, never the words, so you can switch at any time.
How do sound effects work in Lunafic stories?
Sound words like a knock, a heartbeat, or a door slamming show in a handwritten style inside the story, like the sound words in a comic. The AI writes them when a scene calls for one, and you can write your own in your lines by putting the sound inside curly brackets after an s, for example {s:slurp}. They read as part of the scene instead of plain text between asterisks.
Do reading looks change the story text?
No. A look changes how the story reads, its paper color, how dialogue is shown, and how paragraphs are spaced, and the words stay exactly as they are. Each story keeps its own paper color, while the rest of the look follows your account, so you can read one story on warm paper and another on a cool one.
