How does AI roleplay with long memory work?
Lunafic organizes your roleplay into chapters, and the memory is layered. The newest scenes, recaps of older chapters, each character’s world bible, and who knows what all ride along with every reply, so long stories stay consistent across dozens of chapters. You never manage it yourself. Story notes, recaps, and the memory panel are there when you want to see what the story is carrying.
How long a story can Lunafic remember?
We tested it on a real story of 1,600 long turns, where one turn is your message and the reply, more than 1.2 million words, about a dozen novels long. Ten facts hidden in chapter 1, like a law, a vow and a password, were still in the memory the AI received at every point we checked, and at turn 1,600 the AI answered all 22 direct questions right. That was the Plus plan memory with Flash, our lowest model tier. Extended memory on Ultra and Ultra+ reads up to twice as much of your recent story, so it holds up to twice that, about 3,200 long turns.
Do I have to pay extra for memory?
No, you never have to pay extra for long memory. It is part of the core story engine on every plan. Every Lunafic account gets the world bible and the whole-story memory. Free accounts receive monthly AI usage to play chapters and explore worlds, with optional paid plans for players who want more AI usage for longer stories.
Can characters keep secrets from each other?
Yes, characters can keep secrets from one another. Lunafic enforces character knowledge limits, which prevents characters from acting on information they have not actually learned in the scene. If your character confides a private secret to one companion in chapter five, an enemy or bystander in chapter ten will not magically know about it until someone reveals it in the story.
Is my story private?
Yes, privacy is the default for every story and chapter you write on Lunafic. Everything you create lives inside your private workspace where other players cannot open it unless you choose to publish it to the community. We never use your writing to train AI models. You can also export your chapters whenever you wish, in every world.
