What AI models does Lunafic use?
You pick a feel, Flash, Standard, or Pro, and we look after the model under it. What we can show you is the result, the roleplay problems it solves in your story.
The problem
A model name tells you very little about how a story will go. Two apps can run the same model, and one writes your character for you, jumps ahead of the scene, and forgets chapter 4, while the other does not. So instead of a name, here are the problems we set out to solve, and what you see in your story when they are solved.
Roleplay problems Lunafic solves
Each one is a habit of AI roleplay people complain about. Next to it is what happens in Lunafic, and the page that shows it working.
- 01
Narration jumps ahead of your story
The narration stays in the moment your character is in. We checked 78,658 paragraphs of AI narration in real Lunafic stories and found 3 that jumped ahead.
See Writing engine β - 02
The AI speaks as your character
MC Mode is the default. The AI never writes your character's dialogue, thoughts, or actions, and it stops when it is your turn.
See MC Mode β - 03
Characters show up out of nowhere
Only the characters in the scene speak or act. Everyone else waits backstage until you call them in.
See In this scene β - 04
Characters forget how they talk
The AI reads each character's Wiki sheet before every reply, so the cold one stays cold and the shy one stays shy.
See Wiki β - 05
The story forgets chapter 4
Every reply carries your newest scenes and a short memory of every earlier chapter, and the AI looks back when you mention something old.
See Story memory β - 06
A character knows a secret they never heard
Characters only know what they learned in the story. A story note says who knows each fact, so a secret stays a secret.
See Story memory β - 07
Everyone just agrees with you
Characters want things of their own, so they push back, refuse, and tease. In Writing settings you also choose whether your moves can fail.
See Writing settings β - 08
The AI ends the scene for you
Each reply picks up from your last line and stops where your character has to act, so the scene ends when you end it.
See Writing engine β - 09
Every character sounds the same
Each character talks in their own speech style, and can speak their own language, like Japanese in romaji with the translation under each line.

Narration
Solving narration that jumps ahead of your story
Most AI roleplay has the same habit. Instead of staying in the moment with your character, the narration jumps into the future and tells you a detail will matter later.
Lunafic started as a writing tool for authors, so the narration stays where your character is. It shows what is happening right now and lets you decide what it means.
Typical AI roleplay
The summit hall, which had begun with toxic hostility and suffocating political pressure, had suddenly transformed. The sheer, overwhelming goodwill of the Tenka Emperor had washed over the room, leaving the greatest leaders of the era utterly disarmed and in awe. It was a moment none of them would ever forget.
The last line jumps to a future you have not played yet.

right now, in the room
The tea in her cup has gone cold hours ago. She drinks it anyway, without breaking eye contact.

How it works
Pick a feel
Flash is the fastest, Standard balances speed and depth, and Pro writes the deepest scenes. Free uses Flash, and paid plans add Standard and Pro.
Tiers get better on their own
When a better engine arrives, the tier inherits it. You keep picking the same feel, and the replies improve.
Thinking level
Some tiers let you set how long the AI thinks before it answers, from off up to Max. High is a good sweet spot.
The same on every tier
MC Mode, In this scene, and story memory work the same on Flash, Standard, and Pro. We tested MC Mode across hundreds of turns on all three.
Questions people ask
What AI models does Lunafic use?
Lunafic does not show model names. You pick a tier instead, Flash, Standard, or Pro. Flash is the fastest, Standard balances speed and depth, and Pro writes the deepest scenes and the steadiest voices. When a better engine arrives, the tier inherits it, so you never have to follow model news to get better replies. What we can show you is the result, the roleplay problems the AI solves in your story, and they are listed on this page.
Why does Lunafic hide the model name?
Because a model name says little about how a story goes. Two apps can run the same model, and one writes your character for you and forgets chapter 4 while the other does not. You came for the story, so we let you pick a feel and we look after the engine under it. If you are curious, the AI's live thinking is still there behind the blurred bar above each reply.
Which tier should I use?
Use Flash or Standard for quick back and forth and light scenes. Use Pro for a scene with real weight, and Pro with the thinking level turned up for the climax, the reveal, or the goodbye. Nothing is locked in. You can play a whole session on Flash, then switch to Pro for the one scene that matters, inside the same story. Free uses Flash, and paid plans add Standard and Pro.
Does the narration jump ahead on Flash?
Staying in the moment is part of how Lunafic writes on every tier, Flash included. We checked 78,658 paragraphs of AI narration written in real Lunafic stories and found 3 that jumped ahead into the future. The AI writes what happens now, how the other characters react, and what your character notices, then hands the scene back to you. Pro writes deeper scenes, and the pace stays yours on all three.
Does Lunafic train AI on my stories?
No. Zero user stories are used to train AI, and the team does not read your stories. Stories and characters are private by default, and the story you play stays yours, chapter after chapter. Paid plans add more AI usage and the deeper tiers, never anyone else's access to your writing.
